Calling it morning by the time they got out of the shower was a bit misleading, considering that lunch was only an hour away. Adora said she needed to send the message to Eva, leaving him alone in the apartment. Old habits nearly saw him exploring her room to gain some insight, but she returned within ten minutes, a fact he couldn’t come to terms with. He thought about questioning how she managed to get the message out so quickly, but she smiled and gave him a kiss, melting the thought before he could get it to his tongue.

Adora wore another sweatshirt and yoga pants, which left them nearly matching as they headed out to go shopping. He couldn’t help but feel like she was grooming him into what she considered boyfriend material, but he couldn’t find a single flaw with that plan. Adora was sweet, gorgeous, and was starting to show signs of a sense of humor. She was also reserved, proving that he’d have to get her to open up if he ever wanted to truly know her. Putting Valko behind bars was a priority, but getting to know the woman by his side on the bus was far more enjoyable.

They started out at a clothing store that didn’t appeal to him much. It reminded him too much of the outlet malls on Earth for his liking, even when the customers had pointed ears or horns. He played along though, right up until Adora tried to buy him an outfit he wouldn’t be caught dead in. He was a good sport and tried it on, but couldn’t mask his distaste when he modeled it for her. They left without making a purchase, thankfully, which saw their stomachs growling as they walked down the sidewalk in search of another store.

“Let’s go to Highland’s,” she stated and gave his arm a tug to turn him in the other direction.

“What kind of food do they serve?” he asked, staring at the little pub across the street from them. He could smell the deep-fried goodness already, and an ale would certainly hit the spot.

“It’s a sushi restaurant.”

Damn, they serve that crap here too?

“Can’t say I’ve ever been a fan of raw fish,” he replied with a face. “Why don’t we try that place?”

“Because we had enough fried food last night. It wouldn’t kill you to eat something healthy you know.”

“So, let’s check the scoreboard real quick,” he sighed and tried to stuff his hands into his pockets, only to find that the sweatpants didn’t have any. “You were trying to coax me into a wardrobe change, and now you want to alter my diet?”

“Oh, I’m moving too fast for you, aren’t I?” she whimpered with a squeamish grimace. “I’m sorry. I’m just excited at the possibility is all. I swear, I’m not thinking of you as my boyfriend, and I won’t ask you to meet my parents anytime soon. I just…”

“You’re having fun?”

“Yeah. Is that bad?”

“No, I can live with that,” he sighed and turned in the direction she was trying to lead him toward earlier.
